Artist Statement

Feathers Along the Bend is a cement relief sculpture honoring local South Texas bird species through subtractive carving, mold-making, and casting. The silhouettes of Blue Heron, Royal Tern, and Double-Crested Cormorant are arranged to evoke the fluid motion of flight, with rhythms of water and stillness embedded into the relief to reflect their natural environment.

This piece pays tribute to Corpus Christi's birdwatching culture and coastal ecosystem, combining ecological observation with sculptural discipline. It honors the poetic act of noticing and invites viewers into quiet reverence for the overlooked beauty of native wildlife.
