Unraveling
Artist Statement
Unraveling reimagines the concept of portraiture using linear sculpture, transforming psychological states into physical form through tightly wound and frayed wire. Spiraling forms around the eyes evoke visual distortion, while the pressure of wrapped wire around facial planes suggests internalized stress, with ascending lines crowning the form as if releasing tension into space.
This piece proposes that line, usually confined to the page, can act as psychological structure in space. The wire's instability became part of the message—expressing fragmentation, fragility, and movement where the act of building becomes an act of emotional release.
