Stenberg Brothers Style
Concept
This poster reimagines the film Midsommar through the lens of Russian Constructivism, specifically emulating the Stenberg Brothers' cinematic poster style. The goal was to capture the film's psychological intensity and cult atmosphere using the revolutionary graphic language of 1920s Soviet design.
Design Approach
The design centers on a dramatic spiral composition that draws the eye inward, mirroring the protagonist's descent into the cult's world. Bold diagonal typography cuts across the image plane, following Constructivist principles of dynamic asymmetry. The portrait is manipulated with high contrast and geometric fragmentation, creating visual tension. The color palette is restricted to red, black, and white—echoing propaganda aesthetics while reinforcing the film's themes of ritual and violence.
Result
The poster successfully merges historical design methodology with contemporary horror cinema. The spiral motif and fractured imagery create psychological disorientation that reflects the film's narrative, demonstrating how Constructivist principles can amplify emotional impact in modern design contexts.
