The brief

City Reliquary is a community museum in New York City for everyday artifacts and the stories they hold. The identity had to make ordinary objects feel worth keeping.

The idea

A compact CR mark built from negative space, as the anchor for a system that stretches across posters, signage and promotional pieces.

The result

One recognizable mark, flexible enough to move between formats without losing its voice.

Objects worth keeping.

City Reliquary collects everyday artifacts and the stories attached to them. I started by looking at the objects, signs and handmade ephemera the museum is built around.

Finding the mark.

I sketched the C and R together until they shared one shape, with the negative space doing the work of the second letter.
